Insights from World Bio Markets 2023
World Bio Markets is the leading international business event for the global bioeconomy community, and our team had a chance to travel to the Hague and meet and connect with over 450 industry leaders over 2 days. Our Managing Director Tomas Vucurevic attended the event as a speaker as well as a champion - a WBM initiative to celebrate the pioneers, innovators, and influencers in the bioeconomy. Events like the World Bio Markets play a crucial role in bringing together diverse stakeholders from the entire value chain. They provide a platform for networking and one-on-one meetings, fostering collaboration and understanding among different players so that coming together in the future is easier and more impactful.
Our Managing Director and Founder Tomas Vucurevic also shared his insights about the event and thoughts on the field with the hosts of the podcast ‘Plastic. Climate. Future.’
In a live discussion, Tomas and Mateusz Wielopolski discuss the important shift that is also becoming undeniably important with material-focused brands. One major shift in the material technology industry is the recognition that no single material or company can solve sustainability and ecological problems on its own. With the increasing importance of legislation in driving sustainability efforts, initiatives like the EU Green Deal are pushing for legal requirements to prevent greenwashing and ensure that sustainability claims are backed by evidence and external validation.
Alongside regulations and increasing demand for collaboration, the traditional ingredient brand model, where companies focus on promoting their proprietary solutions to create demand, is evolving too. Now, there's a move towards aligning with others along the supply chain to create a network for scaling and commercializing technologies. Ingredient Branding plays a great role in that, as it allows brands to become business partners of their clients rather than staying in the role of an undervalued supplier.
